On the outside you look like you have it together, your life is pretty great and people look to you for inspiration…  But on the inside you’re constantly thinking about and obsessed with food – it’s hard for you to be present and you’re frustrated and embarrassed that in spite of all the inner work you’ve done and all of your nutrition knowledge you still go back to the binge or unhealthy eating pattern. You feel a lot of self doubt and shame because you know what to do and you don’t understand what you’re missing. You’re frustrated because part of you really wants to be free and another part of you says,  

“I want what I want!”

  So you are constantly sabotaging your best efforts, beating yourself up and feeling guilty. It’s exhausting. You want to feel more connected and have deep, meaningful relationships with friends who you can be real with, but part of you is scared to be vulnerable, scared to be rejected and scared you’re not good enough so you resort to isolating – or you engage with others in a superficial or inauthentic way. You struggle with anxiety and overwhelm so even when you get on a path of eating healthy, you typically only get a few days or weeks in before the overwhelm piles up and then you go back to your old patterns. That’s what I needed when I was stuck. Different circumstances, same story.

  It takes someone who has dealt with food addiction and obsession to truly get someone with a food addiction and obsession. We just have a different way of seeing and relating to the world.
