When I was active in my food addiction…

…restricting calories during the day, bingeing at night, using a mixture of caffeine, stimulants, busyness and perfectionism to curb my appetite…

I thought I knew what I was supposed to do.

I was supposed to cut out sugar.

I was supposed to eat in moderation.

I was supposed to make better choices.

I was supposed to have more control…

But I wasn’t able to do any of those things.

I felt like a complete fraud – walking around with a smile on my face, hiding the truth:

That my first thought each day was, what am I going to eat? And it didn’t stop until I went to bed.

I’d finish breakfast and already be planning for lunch.

I’d be in a conversation and start thinking about chocolate.

I’d drive home fantasizing about peanut butter.

I’d go into a silent rage at anyone or anything that got in the way of me and my next binge.

…All the while, putting on a happy face and looking like I had it together.

It was exhausting.

And I really didn’t know what was wrong with me.

I had so much nutrition knowledge, but couldn’t stick to a plan for more than 3 days.

I’d tell myself to just have a little, but I’d end up finishing the whole thing.

Food called to me – and no matter how embarrassed, ashamed or misunderstood I felt, I still went back to it every time.

Can you relate?

Constantly thinking about food, even when you’re not hungry?

Not being able to stop eating once you start?

If you can, then I want to share with you a distinction that changed everything for me and started me on my path of true, lasting freedom from food addiction and obsession.

Because my sense is that this distinction could start you on yours.

It came from a mentor who showed up in my life at exactly the perfect time, and told me:

“You’re struggling because you’re trying to fix a problem you don’t fully understand with an incomplete solution.”

Boom. Just like that, she gave it to me straight.

It was a harsh thing to say but somehow it filled me with hope.

Because it told me that I wasn’t the problem but rather that my incomplete solution was the problem.

Up until that point, I’d been trying to fix my food obsession with diets, detoxes, discipline, moderation, exercise plans, self help strategies and even therapy.

But nothing ever gave me lasting results, and most of those methods had me sabotaging within days.

This distinction inspired me to start learning what I was missing, and it was in this exploration that I discovered the complete body, mind, spirit solution to having lasting freedom.

Today, 10 years into my continued freedom from food addiction and obsession, I can say, with 100% conviction, that it was discovering this body, mind, spirit solution, and applying it in my own life, that contributed to my complete, lasting freedom.

And I want you to have that too.

Which is why I recently put together The Freedom From Food Addiction Interview Series: The Body, Mind, Spirit Solution to Ending the Obsession and Feeling Comfortable in Your Skin.
