Tell me if you relate…

Toggling between texts, projects, posts, emails, calls…getting lost in tv, Netflix, social media, food or alcohol…mind jumping from one thing to the next…checking your phone constantly…or feeling overwhelmed, obsessed, anxious, overly busy or ungrounded?

If you relate to any of the above, you’re not alone.

90% of the smart, high-achieving women I’ve talked to over the last couple years deal with distraction of all kinds.

Just one look at our current culture can explain why.

We live in a world that’s 100 times faster than it was just a few years ago. Where pop-ups, posts, pings, tweets, emojis and acronyms are the new norm.

We’re trained to channel our attention for no longer than a sound bite. Even our breath has adapted, by becoming shallow and short.

But even though we have a million reasons to point the finger at technology, the media and our current cultural norms, our tendency for distraction isn’t caused by external factors.

It’s driven by internal ones.

I’m talking about that underlying discomfort that is going on inside. The discomfort that can show up as anxiety, chronic pain, irritation, impatience, resentment, fear, overwhelm, obsession, guilt, shame, gut issues, depression, addiction, loneliness or just not feeling ok.

When we have any discomfort going on inside (conscious or subconscious), that discomfort or “dis-ease” drives us towards a sense of ease and comfort.

We then reach for the remote control, or our phones, or the laptop or a bag of chips or a bottle of wine. Or we get lost in controlling, fixing or obsessing about ourselves and others.

Distraction is pretty much anything we engage in to escape being present to what is going on inside us right now.

So what is going on inside us right now?

Many of us don’t know. Many of us don’t want to know. And many of us don’t know how to be with ourselves long enough to know.

So what do we do?

If you’ve developed a way of being that has you more comfortable focusing on and reacting to the world outside than knowing how to be with yourself and comfortable in your own skin, then the first thing you need to learn how to do is to be comfortable being inside your body.

For a resource to help you with this, watch: How To Stop Anxiety And Stress in 10 Seconds Or Less.

You then need to get free from the stuff that’s blocking you from the true, authentic you.

If you want to know how to do that, schedule a Congruence Activation Call by clicking here and I can help you get clear on where you’re blocked and your next steps for getting back to the real, authentic you.

And finally, you need to have a go-to system for staying grounded, connected to your inner guidance and aligned with the real authentic you all day, every day.

To connect with a community of like-minded women who also want to be authentic and aligned all day, every day, plus get insider tools and tips to support you on your path, join us at The Congruence Collective on Facebook.

Distraction is still affecting 90% of the women out there. But that doesn’t mean it needs to have a hold on you.
